Spotify seems to be killing battery and heating up devices even when it is just in the background not playing music. Incase anyone else is experiencing this and was questioning it. Here is a reddit link on it

Please report issue here if you are experiencing it like the rest of us. https://community.spotify.com/t5/iO....e/td-p/4484356

I’m sure a future update will fix the problem for those of you who are having heat-related issues with the app’s use.

Definitely report it to Spotify, and for the time being force quit the app when you're done with it to save some headache.

Have you tried disabling Spotify in background? I think I've seen one thread on Reddit where Spotify battery drain was fixed in this way.

I have never found Spotify to make any difference to the temperature of any of my devices. What most definitely does, however, is using a self generating wifi connection like a wifi boroscope or OBD 2 scanner.
