iOS 10 update.

Trying to update my 5c to iOS 10 but can't. Any help?

I'm using 5C. Didn't have any problems to update to iOS10. What OS you are currently on?

Have you tried doing it via both means - the phone and through iTunes? What does iTunes say about your phone's OS when its plugged in? Up to date or new software available?

I tried through iTunes and it's saying up to date.

Another issue now is that I can't even asses my iPhone on iTunes.

Try hard reset. Press home button and power button at the same until the phone turns off. Then restart and try update.

Updated yesterday. Only issue is that all custom sounds and ringtones are now reset to default.

They show that they are still the custom tone but play the default sound. They even play when selecting.

Tried deleting them and reset. Then re-installed them still no joy.

Very exasperating.
