Numbers don't work sometimes

Since this new upgrade, I will be typing an email on my Air 2. I touch the number pad and it doesn't work. It means I have to type 123 as - one two three! which is ridiculous. Is it just my ipad and if so what can I do about it?

That makes little sense, that's not a common issue. Have you installed a 3rd party keyboard? Have you tried a hard reset and tried again?

I have the exact same problem that the original post describes: just upgraded iPad to iOS 10 a few days ago, but occasionally when typing the keyboard is unresponsive to attempts to switch to numbers/punctuation. I have no custom keyboards installed. I have done a hard reset of device and problem still exists (still intermittently).
