There's this:
If you tap the number/photo at the top

You get this contact card where you can easily create a contact for the number. Then you can block.

Hopefully they'll fix this.

Me too!

I did this test:

- Created an undesirable contact.
- Blocked it.
- Deleted it.
- Checked in: Settings -> Phone -> Blocked (Call Blocking & Identification, on iOS 10) and the number was still there.

So we don't have to keep the undesirable contacts! (Even if labelled whatever).

Correct. Once they are blocked, no need to keep the contact card. Deleting the contact card does not delete the block.

I didn't have to create a contact. In messages, I opened up the detail, tapped the number and selected block caller. it's a couple more steps but eliminates the need to add the contact.

Kudos to the Genius of the day! Was it on beta 1 too? I don't think it was on beta 1. May be wrong though.

Works for blocking text from an email too.

How do you know? Is there info on this somewhere?

I know because I've been doing this for a while now.

It blocks the email address so you won't receive text messages from it (99% spam, if unsolicited).

However, I don't know if doing it this way actually blocks the email address from your inbox.

I doubt it blocks in the inbox. I meant in messages. I've wondered about it a long while. I block them and add to the list, but just never knew if it actually did work.

iOS 10 has changed the process a little to block messages:

1. Go into the message
2. Click the "i" in the upper right
3. Click the number the message was sent from
4. Scroll to the bottom and select "Block this Caller"

This blocks all phone and text messages from them.
