After 5 years, I've returned. Albeit with reservations.

I owned an original iPhone when it released. I owned the 3G. But frustrated with Apple's stagnant iOS, I left.

I've owned various Windows Phone devices since. Samsung Focus (Windows Phone 7), HTC HD7 (Windows Phone 7), Nokia Lumia 900 (Windows Phone 7), Nokia Lumia 920 (Windows Phone 8), Nokia Lumia 1520 (Windows Phone 8) and lastly, Microsoft Lumia 950 (Windows 10 Mobile).

I'll go into the reasons when I can post a link. I have to make 10 posts first. So, if you REALLY wanna know why I left, look at my post history over in the forums on WindowsCentral dot com.

But here I am, albeit with reservations. Without going into every reason why I left, I will say this; A lot of the reasons are gone, but some still remain. Hopefully after lots of searching, and hopefully getting beta access to certain apps, I can love this ecosystem again as I did when it first launched.

Having said all of this... I now own an iPhone 6s Plus, 64GB Space Gray variant on the Verizon network. I went with the plus because the Lumia 950 I had JUST owned was a 5.2" screen. Prior to that was the 6" beast of the Lumia 1520. Going to a 4.7" screen would have been too dramatic from the Lumia 950 screen. So, I easily took to the larger 5.5" screen of the 6s Plus.

So here I am. New phone. New carrier. New forums. Not too uncomfortable... but I tread lightly.

Not even a short summary version of why you came back?

I'm also recently back after being away since the 3G also. For me it was a trip through about five Android phones, and most recently three BlackBerry OS10 phones. Moving to a rural area and BlackBerry abandoning their excellent OS were the drivers in me coming back to iOS with the 6S+.

'd like to thank BlackBerry for sending me back to Apple. I was worried I wouldn't like the iPhone but I'm really enjoying it and it's good to be back.

Welcome back and enjoy your 6s Plus. I came to iOS when iPhone 4 was released and it's crazy how much the ecosystem has evolved since then. Keep visiting our forum and asking questions. We are happy to help!

Well, seeing how I can't post links here because I haven't hit 10 posts yet, here you go!

Until yesterday, I defended my Lumia 950. I defended it tooth and nail.

But secretly, I was in pure hell. I bought the phone on day 1 in November. Between then and Feb. 20th, I was at my local AT&T Repair Center 8 times to have it swapped out. All the same reasons...

Random resets to the tune of 10+ a day. Could have been more, but this was just what I noticed. It would sometimes occur in the middle of a phone call or just using the Facebook app.

Overheating. The battery at times felt like it was a griddle on full blast. Hot to the touch.

Screen becoming unresponsive to touch. Device would freeze for minutes at a time.

So, after the 8th visit to the AT&T Service Center, I broke down and contacted an AT&T specialist. I told them all the issues I've been having. I'd explain to them each and every reason I was making these visits to the repair center. I finally broke down and said "I just want a device that will work when I pick it up to use it. Right now, I don't have that with this less than 4 month old phone."

The people at AT&T gave me 2 options. The first being a BRAND NEW Microsoft Lumia 950. Not a factory refurbish, or anything of that nature. In addition to that, I would be allowed to keep the existing 950 I already had. Not bad, but at this point, I'm done with the frustration. The second being at no cost to me, other than to continue to make my Lumia 950 NEXT payments, any Android device, including the upcoming Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. Again, I would just have to continue to pay my Lumia 950 NEXT payments.

I stated my zero interest whatsoever in any Android device. (I'm not a fan of the ecosystem AT ALL.)

She said there was nothing else they could do.

I took a deep breath and asked "what about an iPhone?" Now, to be clear, I'd rather stick with Windows right now. But being completely honest, I had to put my fanboy flag down, as all I want is a phone that will just work when I pick it up.

She stated that because of some deal with Apple, there's nothing she can do there for me in regards to an iPhone.

I thanked her for her time, and asked what my payment would be to close the account.

Yesterday afternoon, I walked into my local Verizon store. Went through the paces, and when I left, I had an iPhone 6S Plus 64GB, Verizon service, and peace of mind. Peace of mind knowing that Verizon is going to pay the balance off of what I owe. Peace of mind knowing that I'm not going to look down at my phone on the table that is in the middle of a reboot.

I already miss the Windows 10 Mobile Ecosystem, Seriously. But I had to make a choice. Be a fanboy tooth and nail, or have a device that works.

I chose the latter.

In closing, knowing my luck, now that I have an iPhone, Microsoft will soon officially announce the Surface Phone, and it will succeed where all Windows Phone devices have failed before it. I just know it.

Welcome to iMore! :) Enjoy your new iPhone. I cant say I've been on any others, but have flirted with the idea of switching. I've found that for me, iOS offers the best of everything I need. I don't know any better ;) but I'm content with it!

Awww welcome. I've joined the sheeple since the iPhone 6, found it a bit small, upped it to the +. Ever since the 6s+ comes I'm not moving away in a hurry. Apple is the most stable to date.
