Does anyone here have experience with introducing kittens to cats?

We had two 8 year old cats. Sophie was put to sleep last week; cancer, lymphoma.

My missus adopted two kittens, 12 weeks old.
So far we've tried:
- the cat and kittens eating on opposite sides of the door
- placing the kittens in carriers and hoping Bogart (the 8year old) would sniff them. Not a chance
- allowing the kittens to roam and hoping Bogart would slowly approach
- allowing everyone to eat within close quarters

Bogart hisses, but always seems to run away.

Ideas, thoughts...?

This particular forum is for any question. I have two cats and it took 3 months for my sweet Sophie to accept Stella. It was a lot of patience and understanding and eventually she accepted her. It was scary at times because Sophie was defiant. I don’t understand she being mean to a little 6. Week old kitten who clearly wanted her to like her. They are buds now and fun to watch. Just be patient. It will be ok. But do feed separately. Kittens are on different diets than adult cats and should not be at each other’s bowls.
