That's just how yahoo weather works. It always shows the worst case scenario. That's one of the reasons why apple switched to The Weather Channel for stock weather app in iOS 8

Yeah but Yahoo was getting it from the weather channel but in iOS 8 the weather channel will be giving Apple more detail than they where giving Yahoo

What I want to know is how many drops of rain will hit me when I'm running to my car and what temperature the rain drops are. I want to know how much acid rain that's mixed in and how much wax is getting eaten off my car every time it rains

Yes it is. You can count the rains by filming in Slo-Mo with your 5s and you can take a bucket of rainwater to a lab to measure the acid rain percentage in it.
