- Honestly, who cares? As long as you're are happy with your phone, commercials such as those really shouldn't bother you. Btw, on android forums, this is exactly how they feel about us Apple users.... Just my 2¢10-10-2012 08:17 PMLike 6
- I do think the commercial hits home for the mainstream. I also agree with Irish Rose.
Beam/NFC are really not very exciting to me on any level. Any time I've ever had to send someone something in the past email always worked fine; and our phones didn't have to be right next to each other.10-10-2012 08:26 PMLike 0 -

samsung knows how to make funny ads - you gotta be able to laugh at yourself.
it's a cellphone. relax10-10-2012 08:43 PMLike 7 - Samsung doesn't have a product that sells like the iPhone does without these kind of marketing tactics...I'd rather have a product sell and still be able to take the high road of sticking with marketing that supports our own products and not having to stoop to taking pot shots.10-10-2012 08:45 PMLike 3

- Between the gs2 and gs3 Samsung has sold like a bazillion phones. I think high demand is not something they lack. It's marketing and it is supposed to make points about their product which it does successfully. Just like the "I'm a Mac" commercials did. Apple's marketing lately has been pretty bad. The genius commercials were awful, the siri commercials were false advertising and the new iPhone 5 commercials are just plain boring. Good thing they don't need good marketing to sell their products.10-10-2012 09:36 PMLike 2
- Samsung is definitely jealous of Apple's large, loyal, possibly fanatic, customer base. But poking fun at the very people that they want as customers doesn't seem like a viable strategy. XD10-10-2012 09:40 PMLike 0

And the #'s between the devices are not something you really want to compare from Samsung's stance, the 4S decimated the GSIII in the first 4 months of release, and when the iP5 has the same time on the market, I'm guessing it'll follow suit or exceed such.10-10-2012 09:55 PMLike 3 - I'm not sure i want to open this can of worms since I'm pretty sure where this is going to go...but how were they false advertising with the Siri commercials? As far as the iPhone 5 commercials, i kinda found the panoramic pic one warm and fuzzy and liked it.

They have the instant beam a photo thing but iCloud is just about the same
Only thing I think would be cool is NFC ... Not for paying for stuff but to buy and program NFC tags the possibilities is endless if you don't know what a NFC tag is google it is pretty cool10-10-2012 10:34 PMLike 0 -

I will 2nd the who cares notion, I find the the commercial where the guy is holding his parents place in line to be hilarious and I don't like my SG3 and can't wait to recieve my iP5 but it doesn't mean it's not ammusing.ltieperman likes this.10-11-2012 12:07 AMLike 1 - I'm not sure i want to open this can of worms since I'm pretty sure where this is going to go...but how were they false advertising with the Siri commercials? The siri commercials made it seem as if siri responded instantaneously with perfect answers every time, which we all know is bs. I'm not the first to point this out about those commercials.
Anyhoo the Samsung commercials are funny, but once the Note 2 comes out you'll see Samsung focus on their own stuff and move away from this type of marketing.10-11-2012 06:01 AMLike 0 - I guess you don't remember the I'm a Mac and I'm a PC commercials lol

There's funny, witty marketing, and then there's the Samsung commercial...it's about as funny as walking up to someone who's using an iPhone at the mall and going "Your phone is a piece of sh*t, my phone can do this...u jelly?" Hilarious, right?

I was simply saying Samsung has sold a ton of phones, I wasn't comparing the sales figures. The demand globally for Samsung phones seems to be doing OK, its why they are the only major player in the game with apple right now.

They make some good points in a lot if features they have had fit a while and some other minor ones are played up. I'm a big iPhone fan but if you can't laugh at yourself a bit life is going to be a lot harder.

I'm just saying Apple's creative direction in Marketing in the past year or so has been pretty bad IMO. Samsung's current commercials are just funny to some of us, nothing more or less, and maybe off-putting for others. As much as some find the Samsung commercials stupid, or bad marketing, I find Apple's recent commercials to be pretty lame. I liked the MAC vs. PC ones, and some of the iPad commercials over the years have been fantastic, and I've always liked the iPod commercials. Just saw the new one last night, and it's not bad.10-11-2012 10:04 AMLike 0 - There used to be a time when only Apple got it. Samsung gets it too. These are clever commercials. Their success with the Galaxy series and as just one of several android makers is impressive.
Instead of being angry at Samsung, I'd direct it at Apple. The Siri celeb ads were horrible. The genius ads were a new low. The latest ones were an obvious attempt to get back on track but definitely not on par with the past.
The Thumbs one in particular is bad because it's the argument Apple made for the original iphone's size. This new iphone is definitely worse for the majority in terms of one handed use. But even if it wasn't, it's just something you shouldn't focus on for marketing given their better options.
But keep in mind that Apple's goal isn't to be a leader in sales or marketshare. Talking about who sells more is stupid. Apple's goal is to maximize revenue and profit margin. They are a premium brand and have a required healthy margin for each sale. It's rare for a premium product to actually lead in marketshare for any product. Apple is one of the few who does this especially in areas like tablets and ipods (mp3 players). It's why they're valued as one of the top companies on the planet. It's unlikely things will remain that way for Apple in the tablet market that they pretty much established. The question will be how much share can they retain? An ipad mini should help.
If Apple's goal was to be a sales leader, we'd see them adopt such a strategy. Cheap phones, different form factors, low margin, all the carriers, etc.
IMO, Apple should focus their marketing on why people love iphones. Features, support, ecosystem, services, itunes. It just works. Promote the premium-ness. The red carpet treatment so to speak.ltieperman likes this.10-11-2012 10:25 AMLike 1
