Is Short Supply Good For Apple?

You know every moblie device apple makes is sold out all the time until its been out for half a year. lol. But do you think they like it being "sold out" all the time? Like all the press about it being sold out. I would think they would sell the same amount if they could knock em out fast, sell all 8 mil in one month or is it that more people buy cause they cant have it.
