Expendables was terrible. How could they collect so many actors and not bother to find a single competent writer?
Get rid of the girl. She was useless. Have one of the team captures/killed in the opening sequence and Stallone not care because they're "expendable".
Then have his friend go with him to scout the island for no other reason than he's his friend, and have that friend captured and tortured.
Stallone has to face whether or not they're really expendable and his character grows to realize they're not.
Then he goes back in to get his friend.
And where was the Stallone yelling while shooting an M60 and cases flying scene.
