According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, it seems that Apple's own apps are dominating App Store searches.

My initial reaction to this is that I’m not exactly concerned about this. In fact, I would expect this. I consider myself smart enough to know how to sort through things and continue searching until I find a specific app that I want. This means it could be by Apple, or it could be by someone else. I do trust Apple I feel secure with Apple so I don’t see why this is such a big deal.

“Apple pushing their own products”. What a marvel marketing strategy!

This is downright laughable in my opinion. These apps are already installed by default and if someone is searching for them, 9 out of 10 times, that user wants to put them back on their device.

    Why is this even newsworthy?

    Not surprised

But I would like to see a search query for app developers. Without using App Metrics

Wasn't a similar accusation made against Google years ago but nobody batted an eye?

I would honestly expect Apple or even Google to do that exact thing. It's not surprising nor should it be.

Seems like they've been doing that for years.

I mean, is it really skewed to essentially place your own app first in a list? It’s almost like an ad.

Not a big problem obviously. As Just said, the majority of apps are already installed on the device anyway. Besides that, it’s their device. Why wouldn’t they push their own services and apps?
