Apple offers pointers for using iOS 9's Wi-Fi Assist

Apple has posted a new support article covering their new Wi-Fi Assist feature in iOS 9. It includes a description of how the feature works, along with instructions for using it.

Is this different than how it normally worked before wifi assist was available? I mean, when I was on wifi, when there was something wrong with the wifi signal, my phone would switch to cellular. How is this different? Is it just that it'll switch when it's a weaker signal vs a dropped signal?
