Apple News app has reportedly been disabled when used in China

A new report says that the Apple News app that was introduced in iOS 9 has been disabled when the app is in use in China. It's likely Apple made this move to avoid dealing with government censors.

Can confirm. I have a U.S. App Store account, but have not had access for News here in Chengdu since day 1, with or without a VPN. When you compound this with Apple's having complied with the government's wishes to put their servers for China here in China, Apple's platitudes about security and internet freedom are an f-ing joke.
