EU court rules that Skype's name is too similar to Sky network to claim a trademark

A European Union court has ruled that the name of Microsoft's Skype VoIP service cannot claim a trademark in the EU. The court ruled that the name was too similar to the Sky broadcast network.

Sky first filed a trademark dispute with Skype before it was acquired by Microsoft in 2011.
