As part of the ongoing investigation surrounding the massive theft of photo data from celebrities, Apple has now issued a statement, which offers up their findings on whether or not iCloud was directly affected.

Weak passwords can get you anywhere. I can't say how many Twitter accounts have been hacked due to weak passwords. You just don't use your pets name as a password. Or anything easy for the computer to pick up.

Cloud services may not be 100% secure, but the news released today about the way people got into these accounts just shows that when people listen to erroneous media reports (IE: iCloud vulnerabilities being at fault for the breach), they'll grab their pitch forks and torches and they'll go after the first target identified, regardless of accuracy.
