About a year ago Facebook acquired Parse, a development framework for mobile, for $85 million and started integrating it into their outreach with third-party app creators. This eventually culminated in features like anonymous log-in and App Links being announced for Facebook. Before the acquisition, though, Apple was apparently a potential buyer, but got shot down alongside Dropbox by CEO Ilya Sukhar.
