Been getting some articles on my Google Now cards saying that there are jailbreaks for iOS 7.1

It can't be true. They probably have a beta version which might work, but not a public version. Apple patched some things with iOS 7.1 which makes jailbreaking harder.

Apple patched a key KASLR (kernel address space layout randomization) exploit in the iOS 7.1.1 update that was used in recent jailbreaks so finding a jailbreak just became a lot harder.
