My point is this….If seeing a thread that mentions links to viewing porn for free on our Apple devices are an overreaction by some who prefer to keep their favorite tech site as it is then seeing threads being created in regard to the subject matter I mentioned above should be viewed likewise. Personally, I wouldn't be affected because I have the discipline to ignore it or not click on the link(s), and I's like to think that a majority of others do to. Having said that, there are some subjects that get people all riled up just by a mere mention of them - porn, dogfighting, religion & abortion - to name a few. That is what happened here in this thread, I believe. I was the first to respond and I was like, "what the heck is this crap?" Had I not noticed that it was an in-house thread, I would have infracted it as SPAM/pornagraphic material and banned the OP….lol… If you've been here long enough, you've seen threads created, especially those regarding politics and religion, where they were almost immediately closed or thoroughly cleansed of comments because they were deemed "offensive" and "doesn't belong here". We have an "off-topic" forum -- meaning non-technical. Having said that, who all think that porn, as it was originally discussed via the initial post in this thread, should be okay in the off-topic forum? I think it could be because the off-topic forum is clearly telling everyone that they are now venturing into a non-technical section of iMore. What say you?
I wouldn't have a problem with it being discussed in the off-topic forum. Just as long as it doesn't get derogatory or inappropriate.

Well said Darrick. I feel the same way. I'm not a prude porn doesn't bother me. I do feel though there is a place for it and "in my opinion this is not it" that's it just how I feel.

The people that don't like the thread have been very civil in my opinion talking and getting along. The people who are for it seem to be the one getting more pissed off than anyone.

Like most of you pointed out. If you don't like what we are posting don't read it.

There are plenty of places to find porn without posting it on iMore. I don't think that the average reader will say "I'm going to iMore and find out where to get porn".
It's also not the primarily purpose of a gas station convenience store to carry pornography, but they do it because someone might come in and want it. And we're talking a discussion here ABOUT porn, not the actual porn itself! LOL!

Some people tend toward the aggressive and argumentative, that's just their nature.

Why does someone want to watch other people have sex? IMO, there is something sick about that. I know that people have rights, but that is just wrong. But, to each his own.

How is discussing porn hijacking? As Sean said earlier, this is a discussion about porn.

It's a discussion about iMore posting on how to find porn on your iDevice. It's not a discussion about who enjoys porn in general. That is hijacking the thread. You know very well that he didn't mean this was a discussion about porn in general.

Porn is the a multi million dollar enterprise that is watched by millions upon millions of people around the world. Some think it's right, some think its wrong. But money talks and shows that more people approve than not or these porn companies would be bankrupt. A topic like this can be debated forever.. Like religion.

I typically don't even think about pornography as it's not part of my interests. I realize, now, that a lot of iMore's readership must feel differently and that is why it's being discussed. I've learned something. I fully expect parallel threads will be offered at the other Mobile Nations sites and respect James Falconer's courage for allowing discussions on how mobile technology is used to obtain this controversial element, even if I have a disdain for it.

He quoted exactly what you said. How is that putting words in your mouth?

I still find it hard to believe that people, in this day and age, are this uptight. Get a grip already. You don't like or watch porn? Wonderful! Carry on with your life like it doesn't exist. Why find the need to beat this dead horse even further?

Speaking of putting words in people's mouths...I never said that.

Actually, this is a discussion about viewing pornography on an i-device...not about pornography in general...which is why I've been surprised why people have been freaking out so much over the general subject itself, and not the technological function that is the actual core of this article.

Crack berry is blocked at work due to the pornographic nature of the pin sharing forums there.

Looks like iMore will be next.

I'm 100% against this and the rebuttals put forth are at best weak, at worse hysterical, and generally a laughing stock.

This Thread should be labeled NSFW at the very least and probably shouldn't even exist.

I have not gotten any request for thread or post removal either. I think it's been a very civil conversation so far which reflects well on the quality members we have.
I cannot be bothered to report a thread posted by those who run the site.

If it was a normal member I'd have reported it when I noticed a while back. I just didn't bother opening it until now cause I wanted to know what others thought about it.

Will be contacting aim to have my accounts locked. I'm over debating about things online these days.
