Why would merely seeking information about the origins of COVID-19 be a problem? Why would people speculating about its origins be considered false information? We speculate on things and people all the time. Heck, watch the news and see hosts and guests speculate about an unpopular political figure night in and night out. SMH

Contrary opinions are only a problem when those advocating for the one opinion know their's is built on an uncertain foundation.

Human history is relatively clear on this: When one opinion is considered the only acceptable opinion to hold, 1. the powerful will become more powerful. 2, an authoritarian society will be the end result.

So true, and it’s frustrating to see how people can’t agree to disagree or even make up their own mind these days. Once an opinion becomes popular, it becomes the truth regardless of how false it is and that’s scary. What’s scarier is the venom that’s spewed toward anyone who dares to set the record straight. We are not far away from being an authoritarian society, unfortunately.

Remember when it was trendy to claim the earth was flat.

It was trendy to believe the earth was the center of the universe. But disinformation pushers eventually caused a thought trend change, it was now the sun/our solar system at the center.
We’d eventually find out our solar system is in no particularly special part of an arm of the spiral galaxy called The Milky Way.
At each step almost certainly information deemed disinformation moved the science. Any time on any subject you hear the “science is settled”, let that raise your skepticism. True science is rarely “settled “.
