I think both companies are missing something, the Off-line experience, sometimes it's not just about how the cloud and the signal is, but how the device still something while is not connected to the net or/and the WiFi, what happens when the signal is too low or simple the Internet speed is low.
I hope they both learn a little bit from that age when Nokia was the one on the top and Internet was only a new thing, everything in the phone just worked not plugged to the network, I feel both iOS and Android (I never tested Windows Phone) need to focus a little bit more on that.
