Senior Apple Maps engineer drives off to Uber

Uber, the car service that's irritating taxi companies everywhere, has poached a senior Apple engineer who was a lead on Apple Maps. Chris Blumenberg had been with Apple since 2000, starting as a developer liaison with Microsoft in building Internet Explorer and Office for Mac OS X. More recently, however, he led the 40-person team that built the Apple Maps client software for both iOS and OS X.

Really? I find that Apple Maps has been hugely improved, I had issues when it first came out but now it's always perfect.

Was in a neighborhood and i always do directions just for fun and it had me about 10 ft or so from the road and the route was not correct. So far my negative experiences have with with the turn-by-turn directions but. Which is what i would use maps for anyway. I miss google maps for street view. If Apple maps had that than it would be more appealing.
