Saving a contact attachment from iMessage to my Contacts

So this operation seems like it's a no brainer. A friend sends me a contact attachment via iMessage and I can view it no problem. I have two choices, update an existing contact or add a new contact. I've tried both and neither seem to do the job. Meaning, after I've selected to add a contact, that contact doesn't appear in my contacts on my iPhone. Then I manually create a contact on my iPhone but just with First and Last Name and then I view the attachment again, select update and again, it fails to update the additional information that I want.

I'm not sure what steps I missing here or if this could be some sort of setting within my phone?

Thoughts?

Merry Christmas. Rich

Hi Richard,
Welcome to the iMore forum.

There is a setting for contacts where it specifies if contacts are by default saved on the iPad or on iCloud. Is say it's set on iPad, and in the contact app you are only showing iCloud contacts, you won't see them there.

Maybe check if the contacts app shows all contacts.
