iMessage to mobile number

Is there anyway you can connect your Mac or your iPad to receive messages that were sent to your iPhone using the mobile number (and not the @me email?? That would be usefull since my friends normally sends messages on my mobile (previously via SMS but now using the iMessage

Currently, no. In iOS 6 this feature will be available. Just hang on until Fall...

You can set any email address, not just your me.com address. If you upgrade to Mountain Lion, it has iMessage as well, and your iMessages will come to both your Phone and Mac.
