I recently updated my son's iPod Touch to the latest software and now he has access to iMessage. The problem I have is the iPod is registered under my Apple ID and therefore when I go in to set up iMessage it wants to use my email address. If I try to delete that address and put in his email address, it prompts me to change the email adress associated with my Apple ID, which I don't want to do. How do I send iMessages from my iPhone 4S to his iPod Touch? Does he need his own Apple ID and therefore his own iTunes account?

    This is what you do

    Wipe the iPod

    Create his own apple id/email

Authorize your computer on his acct

Setup/ sync iPod with his account

Use his ID to iMessage him

So he will be able to use my computer but not my iTunes? He would have to log into iTunes with his own id and buy the songs/apps under his own id?

Yes, because otherwise you'd be iMessaging yourself since it follows all iDevice's on one account
