My library on my Imac is on an external drive. When I export my films (not puchased through itunes) some go to Movies and some go to Home Videos. Whats the difference. They all show up in home sharing. So not a big problem. Only want to know the difference

The difference is the metadata. Some are tagged home movies while others are tagged movies. You can change the tags anytime you want. I use iFlicks to add the correct metadata.

I’ve always found out in the past that iTunes wants anything not purchased through iTunes to go into Home Movies. Didn’t matter what your tags said. You could change it in iTunes, but anytime there was a major update or hiccup, iTunes would change all the metadata. It would wreck havoc on my audio library. My solution was to get a real NAS drive, ditch iTunes and my iTunes server, and use Plex. My NAS is the Plex server.
