Mac won’t awake

On a few occasions lately my Mac will not wake from a sleep state. Usually if I tap the space bar it will awake to the login screen. On 2 occasions lately is has only shown a dimly lit, blank screen. My only option (that I know of) is to force it to restart. Is there a remedy or way to avoid this?

I have a 2011 iMac doing the same thing. Usually after tapping the space bar a dozen or so times it comes in. I'm attributing it to old age.

Mine is only a few months old . Didn’t do it this morning however.

Bluetooth keyboard? I'm thinking about trying a wired one just to see if the issue persists.

Yes Bluetooth. Hadn’t thought of that. I’ll keep that in mind
