Firstly, pardon my lack of knowledge as I’m a new, first time iMac user. Is there a way to put the power levels for these devices out in plain view somewhere?

Do you get some kind of visual/on screen warning when battery levels are low?

I haven't received a warning when it gets low, however, you can check the power level. If you have Bluetooth showing on your status bar, click that and it will show your connected devices. From there you can select each device and see the battery levels.

Yes you do. You will get a notification that the batteries are low. It will slide out from the top right corner of your screen.
