Hi,

Right now I have custom built computer with the following specs:

ntel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor 4GHz CPU, M.82 SSD drive, and older Nvidia GPU. I do a lot of photo and graphic editing and am wondering if the CPU in the latest iMac is faster than what I have overall.

Any advise?

Depends, there are many configurations, at various price points, some with lower specs some with higher. Are you looking to use Final Cut Pro? If so maybe the switch to Mac is in order, but otherwise maybe you should wait. Are you really ready to make the switch from PC to Mac? There's a learning curve! NOW as a switcher myself, you get over it AND you come to love the Mac, BUT in the beginning it's tough as you try to do things the Windows way on your new Mac! lol

Tough decision! Hopefully others will chime in too. :)

According to Geekbench that Intel Core i7-4790k has a single core score of 4894 & a multicore score of 15,548.

The current fastest iMac has a single core score of 5683 and a multicore score of 19,357.

That also doesn't consider the just release iMac Pro, which is faster yet.

In the simplest terms, the fastest current iMacs are indeed faster than your current computer. But, while we obviously recommend switching from Windows to macOS, there is a learning curve. In the end, a computer is a tool. Which tool one uses depends on what job they're trying to do. So, what job are you trying to do?
