what's up with Preview?

So, Preview on my MacBook Pro (circa 2015) has stopped opening PDF's. It launches, and even opens PNG's just fine, but any PDF now requires me to launch Acrobat.

However, it seems to work just fine on my iMac; BOTH iMac and MBPro are running the latest version of macOSX Sierra, and they have an almost identical set of apps, settings, etc.

Aside from one MacRumors article warning of issues, and cautioning folks to stay away, there's precious little info out there about a) what's going on, or b) when a fix may be on it's way.

What gives?!

Are you saying you can't use File>Open to open the PDF? Or that when you double-click a PDF it opens Acrobat rather than Preview?

Can't open either way –*not by clicking on doc, nor by selecting Open from within app.

Again, PNG's open just fine; but nary a PDF...
