I am running the latest non-beta build of El Capitan on a new mid-2015 iMac/Retina and just started using a non-Apple Bluetooth Mouse.
How do I get the OS to see/acknowledge the side buttons on the mouse? It is an Tecknet BM306 Bluetooth mouse. It connected fine in the Bluetooth settings panel but I don't see anyway to assign the side buttons.
(I did check the manufacturer's website and they have nothing as far as a FAQ or manual BTW.)

If you going to be able to set anything on your mouse it will be in System Preferences>Mouse. You could possibly use something like USB Overdrive, Bettertouch Tool or SteerMouse.
