The next iMac

The current iMac is, at least in form factor, essentially unchanged since 2007. Yes, the original aluminum surround has gone and the latest machines have thinner edges. But, these are relatively small changes compared to the differences between the G4 and G5 or the G5 and the 2007 model.

I have thought about upgrading from my 2010 machine to the 27" Retina display model. However, I suspect that an entirely new form factor could be in the offing. Does anyone have any ideas about when we might expect a truly new model and what it might look like or include?

Not really. Rumors are rumors, you can't really expect them to be true. If you want, you can hold out and wait for one with a newer form factor.

Not sure how it could be changed. They keep trying to make it thinner but that's about all I would think can be done.
