This command in Terminal doesn't seem to work in Maverics:
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.backupd-auto StartInterval -int 3600

Changing the 3600 to another number makes no difference; the TM continues to backup each hour. Any help?

You want it more or less frequently? The default seems to work fine for me...

    Hi Keith,

As said, anything other than the 3600 (1 hr.) still produces a backup every hour. What I'd like, however, is 3 hrs. between backups. Putting 10800 in place of the 3600 should produce it as it did in previous versions, but not in Maverics, at least for me.

Sounds like a question for Apple tier2 tech support...

Guess you're right. I'll breeze it by them and report back if I get an answer.
