My best friend passed away a few months ago. His family wants to cancel his iphone account but the company has requested them to provide icloud password. Even if they have sent the death certification and all documentation, Apple is stopping them in this process due to their privacy policy.

is there anyone who can advice on this?

    thank you,

    Welcome to iMore

    Sorry for your loss

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do for you but rest assured that no one will be able to access your best friends account

Security is a big issue in this day and age and they assume if you friend wanted anyone to access his account he would have given access to his password

If Apple is doing all they will do, there's nothing anyone can do. If the phone can be opened, I would suggest looking all thru it for the Apple ID. It's the email and password. He may have put it somewhere. Notes, in an email folder, etc. There are no more options. Folks need to leave info like this with a trusted family member. Good luck!
