What's the point of a universal game without iCloud sync?

If I cant pick up where i left off, whats the benefit of universal games?

Ask the developer to support sync across devices.

The advantage is you buy once for both platforms.

Yes, it's great to buy once. However, what's the point if I can't continue on one device where I left off on the other? The games that do support iCloud are great! I suppose the benefit will be there when more and more games start implementing this.
