What is the latest on the potential for MobileMe being free? I was hoping to hear more about it at WWDC but I did not. I know that the large server farm in NC may have something to do with it.

    Any updates?

    Thanks.

It really seems inevitible given that Apple now sees Google as direct competition in mobile and ads, however if they were going to do it I can't see a better time than when announcing the new iPhone... I don't think they'd announce it at the iPod event. Maybe it won't get an announcement, sometimes pretty substantial updates go unannounced.

Really? I think the iPod event would be a great time ti announce if the update also includes some nice cloud syncing for music.

It would be nice, but being that I'm not a mac owner... I have other items on the list of things I rather see from Apple.

It has added benefits for Mac users though.

That it does. I was so close to buying a year when I picked up my iMac (which I can't live without now, much like my iPhone.. seems to be a pattern) anyway, I never did, but if they even reduced it to $50 I would pick it up. It seems so convenient.

Yeah the only problem is if you don't pay for it the following year you then don't have your email address anymore.. That really really sucks. Apple should make the email and gallery services free!

Yea it would be nice if even just the email service was free and cloud service was $50 or least reduced price renewal i bought a 1 year subscription with my new imac last october because it was only 70 bux so im hoping it gets reduced to free before then.

I just bid $50 on a MobileMe family pack. I can put it from several online stores for $70-$90.

It's an older version but it can be updated - right?

I wish you could buy the Locate my i[Device] seperately. I have no need for anything else MobileMe offers.
