I’ve been having a prolific hell of a time with my left HomePod mini. My paired mini Home app single button had been saying “cannot do calendar and reminders”. I tried reset from the home app, deleted from home app, re-add. It went into home but stayed ‘configuring’ mode for two days. I then tried the delete from home app then did the unplug, plug in, press finger reset. Now it was Worse, it was now giving me iCloud authentication failed. I’d renter the 1000% certain iCloud password and it would fail. I’m starting to assume the left mini is bad.
I got the right mini updated to 16.2 no problem. If I could just get left updated maybe it’d magically start working. So I did a reset again but this time added it to a different room. Still getting re-enter iCloud password. So I log into my WAP router/switch and identify the DHCP client by MAC address to be the minis. Strange, mini right is a 75 up/75 down, mini left is 4.5up/75 down. Both minis are in excellent range of the WAP (10 feet away at most). But I move the left mini 2 feet away. Router/switch now says 75up/75down for left mini. Authentication issue is gone, left mini is showing normal, and the left mini got its 16.2 soon afterwards.
So is was a long and trying update to HomePod OS 16.2 but I’m there.
