Gmail question

I was wondering if there was a way to have emails that I have already read show that they have been read in Apple's mail app on my MacBook. I use gmail and have gmail sync setup on my
phone and have it sync with my laptop. Any suggestions?

Do you have your gmail set up as pop3 or IMAP? If pop3, change it to IMAP. If IMAP - it should show the same thing in all places.

Yep, if you set it up as IMAP it will sync these changes. If it's Pop3 it will not sync them.

Nice thanks and is there anyway to set it up for an exchange account and imap? maybe a dumb question

This guide should help (albeit, it's for an iPhone, the principle is the same)...
