Tim Cook tweeted this morning that "We are heartbroken for the French people and those around the world for whom Notre Dame is a symbol of hope. Relieved that everyone is safe. Apple will be donating to the rebuilding efforts to help restore Notre Dame’s precious heritage for future generations.🇫🇷"

Stories about this on both MacRumors and 9 to 5 Mac.

Well, if there really is enough money to rebuild/restore Notre Dame, that is fantastic. I just think that Tim Cook's gesture was very touching! :D

Gucci donated 100 million and Luis Vutton topped that with 200 million euros. Apparently there is already close to 1 billion donated.

Look at all of these rich companies donating such large sums of money to this cause...

This world could be a vastly different place if that same energy went into other efforts lol.

Yep, that’s the general consensus. People are flabbergasted that Africa and other countries get 20 million in donations at best. It’s horrible but it’s those companies’ money. We have no say in how they spend it.

In regards to the money donated, it's fantastic that three people/corporations are being so generous. It is too bad that this doesn't happen to help with world hunger and poverty, and all the other causes that we care about.

Oh of course. I agree. It's just an interesting observation.
