Some pundits expect Apple to wait until 2020 or later to make a 5G compatible iPhone. One could argue that it will take 2 to 3 years for 5G to roll out widely. Do you think the new 2019 IPhones will support 5G? If not, will Apple lose significant sales because of the lack?

5G is a gimmick as of now. 2020 will be when it will become widespread across the globe.
I wouldn’t mind if Apple waits.

Keep in mind that 2020 is only 11 months away. With that in mind, I don’t think the public, in general, care about 5G, especially when LTE is currently sufficient for their needs. Of course, not all areas have excellent LTE coverage. Anyway, I don’t know if the next iPhone models will support 5G or not, but if it doesn’t, I doubt the exclusion will negatively impact sales.

Depends on whether Intel has the modems ready, unless Apple goes to a different manufacturer.

Most sources I’ve read claim it’s a no go and I’m kind of leery about what I read about the dangers of 5G so I’m not in any hurry to acquire a device that will use it

If they added 5G to the 2019 iPhones that might also come with a cost.

I would think they would wait until most or all of the carriers here in the US fully support the 5G bands. Just my guess and it makes good business sense.

Like everyone else, I think Apple will not introduce 5G in 2019.

Highly doubtful. And I wouldn’t want them to. 5G isn’t going to be widely available for a while and it’s expected that the costs of 5G devices will increase. I’d rather not see more expensive phones for a network that isn’t ready.

No, 5G is still down the road. I have a feeling that when it is rolled out, many will be disappointed. Most will not notice any difference.

However, will the marketplace force or at least encourage Apple to make at least one 2019 model that is 5G compatible? Note that iPhone sales are declining. Further, AT&T is labeling and advertising their present phones as being 5G E. Apple is supposed to be supporting this mislabeling of what is really 4G LTE according to at least one beta version of IOS 12.2.

5G E is more like LTE Plus. It's AT&T's first step toward 5G. It's only misleading for those who don't research it. I don't have it, but have read about it. Makes perfect sense to me.

    There is already LTE Advanced.
Calling something LTE PLUS or 5G E doesn’t make it any less confusing.
