Recently I’ve been seeing reports appearing more and more regarding Apple’s orders for iPhone X components/parts being cut/greatly reduced, according to analysts with ‘sources’ or ‘anonymous people in the know’ in the supply chain which, to me anyways, makes it seem or feel like that Apple hasn’t sold any, and that the X is like the hardware equivalent of Ping...
I must have hallucinated the one that I purchased and have been using since last November... Along with all of the others that I have seen...
The iPhone X may not meet everyone’s needs, and even though I’ve been using and enjoying mine since it first launched, I definitely get that its features, or lack there of, and cost are drawbacks for many. That being said, this narrative that the iPhone X is a ‘flop’ indicated by supposed significant cut backs in parts orders feels to me to be an attempt by some at trying to influence Apple’s stock...
Hopefully, the 2018 versions of the iPhone X will improve upon the positive elements of the current X, while being able to mitigate to some degree (like cost) some of the drawbacks of the current generation. As well as by the time of their launch later in the year there will be some solid sale numbers of the current iPhone X to either give credence to the reports of less than desired sales, or that as I believe, those reports will be shown by then to be a false narrative.

Some people expect Apple to sell a million iPhone X models every single day, and you and I both know that's not going to happen. With that being said, Apple arguably positions their new iPhone models to sell big during the Christmas season, and they indeed sell a lot during that time. They still sell them after Christmas, but not the volume sold during the Christmas season. In addition, the iPhone X was introduced alongside the lower priced iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. If you add the sale of all three together, the number would probably amaze us, but separately, they probably won't. Some are quick to call the iPhone X a bust for various reasons, and they have a right to their opinions. For me, it's not a bust, but that's Just Me, D....

iPhone X is no doubt a good phone, but Apple "overhyped" it to much and people got repelled. Consequently, the sales was nowhere near the "super cycle" people predicted. Perhaps saner minds prevailed? It was simply overpriced. That's does not at all mean the X is a bad phone. Some people love it. It's just that many people did not find it quite worth the price Apple put. Apple learned the lesson, and I am sure the price would come down to a more reasonable level in the next iteration. Smartphone market are now reaching the plateau, the market is being saturated and commoditized too. It's no longer something we used to race to buy it regardless of the price. I for one, can afford to buy the X and have been buying every iteration of the iPhone outright since the beginning, but last year, I posed and stopped to think, ended up buying the 8. I just could not convince myself to buy the X. I might buy it this year. But YMMV certainly.

Did apple expect to sell a million every day? No but I bet they sell a lot still every day. They knew not everybody who want to drop $1000 plus for a phone and that's why they offer the 8 and 8 plus. A phone for everybody.

What a ridiculous post. I actually thought this was an April fool when I saw the title.
There is no doubt that Apple are selling fewer iPhone 10s than they expected, and their suppliers are selling fewer of the components to Apple than they expected. But to claim that Apple have not sold any and that you are hallucinating your own phone, and then to claim that lower than planned sales are actually a false narrative - what on earth motivates a post like this?

We will probably never officially know how many iPhone 10s have been sold. Apple don't release sales figures for individual models.

My wife & I both have iPhone X's since day one, and love them. At the end of the day that's ALL that really matters. I don't buy my cellphones based on stock reports, and I certainly don't buy stocks based on what cellphones personally work for me ...

I think he was being facetious because of that other post about iPhone X not being successful...

Absolutely right! But it is funny when some posters take the perceived poor sales of a product they probably had nothing to do with commissioning, designing or selling so personally. ;-)

There was more than an element of hyperbole & sarcasm to some of the statements that I made. That being said, I don’t recall coming across any hard data with actual real numbers & statistics in any of the coverage of the iPhone X’s alleged poor showing sales wise, only analysts reports from their ‘sources’ in the supply chain claiming that there have been a reduction of orders by Apple of parts for the X. I don’t take this speculation as fact, some may, but I don’t. Either way come May 1st, there’ll be some ACTUAL numbers released by Apple for the fiscal Q2 of 2018, and even though they may very well not break down sales by individual iPhone model, I believe these numbers will still be able to paint a better picture of how the X is doing versus analysts ‘supply checks.’

I can almost guarantee they won't go too much in to the details, and/or release actual individual sales numbers. BUT as you say the numbers they DO provide should paint a picture, and will be analyzed by "Wall Street"

The reason I tend to believe the reports this time is the consistency between different analysts, the consistency with signs in the real world and the consistency with "industry gossip". But you're right that we need to see real numbers, so let's see what Apple say in their next results (although they may not answer all our questions).

That’s either a problem with your device or a problem with your service. Do other phones get 4G where you are? Have you tried moving to a different location with your own device, perhaps one that’s known to have a strong signal?
