Scarce AirPods

Does anyone have any insight as to why AirPods are still so scarce 6 months after they were released? I am finally in a position financially and geographically to purchase a set, but there are none to be found!

I haven't read any reports online about specific reasons for delays in shipping for the Airpods. Maybe they have just been in high demand for the past couple weeks. I've looked on a couple stores for you and seems like many are low or out. It seems Best Buy has some in stock if you want.

Hopefully some stock comes soon in the Apple store if you prefer that.

I can't believe after all these months that there is still a waiting period on AirPods. I honestly would just order them online and start the waiting process.

My wife did that. Initially they were 6 weeks out. They were delivered to the local Apple store and she was notified with 3 weeks.

I agree to order them online. At least then you're "in line" to receive them. If you want for them to become available, something tells me you'll never get them.

Here is a photo of Air Pods here in Brazil. The conversion rate makes them over $400 here. *sigh* I will have to wait until my next trip to the US.

Brazil is notorious for it's incredibly high tariffs on technology. A couple years ago I orders 2 google cardboard viewer kits, a total of less than $30, but had to pay the "Recita Federal" (Brazilian equivalent of the IRS) another $20 in order for them to release them to me.

I will never order anything internationally again.

(Though "gifts" are not taxed... hint, hint)
