how can a text I send to someone, when they recieve the text it comes from someone else?

I sent a text to a girlfriend, when she received the text it came through as her mom sent it.

Welcome to iMore! I would assume you're not sharing an Apple ID with her mom. So I would check your contacts list. Does "me" show on your contact, or hers? If hers, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendar > scroll down to Contacts > Tap on my info > Tap your contact.
