I am pretty curious about LOCK and UNLOCK iphones. Could you please tell me the difference between the two?

Locked means it's tied to a specific carrier and will only work with that carrier. Unlocked means that one should be able to pop in a SIM from any carrier and expect the phone to work without issue.

I think it's a typical US matter, since in Europe most devices are unlocked (not sure about UK).

In the UK most iPhones are sim locked, with varying degrees of difficulty and cost involved in unlocking.
