how do I get rid of an old apple id no longer used but keeps popping up for password

I have an old apple ID no longer in use. I guess some of the apps were originally purchased with that ID. I am continuously asked for the user ID and password. How do I delete this? My new apple ID (in use over two years) works OK.

Delete those apps and redownload them with your current Apple ID.
