    Display fails to come on after battery change. I get sound but, no image on the screen. In a darkened room I can see that the display has a bit of a backlight that comes on.

    Just want to know what the possible causes are.

    Ok so you changed your own battery on your iPhone? Are you sure you reconnected everything? Are you sure you did not damage any of the very delicate ribbon cables that connect the display the to motherboard?

    I would retake everything apart carefully and make sure you reattached everything or didn't damage the digitizer.

    What the fine folks above said. I've done the same before and gotten similar results. Take your toms and make sure all connections are secure.

    That you didn't take it to an authorized Apple store to let a professional install a new battery.
