How do I chnage the volume on my text alert

I need to have the text alert be softer and it does not change with the volume button.

You could try going to the Settings app, then tap on Sounds. Here you can change the volume of Ringers and Alerts. I hope that works!

For a softer alert, you can also choose a softer tone.
