FaceTime is stuck on signing in. Ditto on FaceTime in settings and won't take any instructions

I heard FaceTime ringing but there was no way to swipe to answer the call. When I tried done or cancel it refused to move from my contacts list.

Reboot your iPhone by simultaneously pressing both the home and power buttons until you see the  logo.
