    I have entered my passcode more than the allotted 10x and although I thought it was correct, I am now locked out

    Welcome to iMore! You have to wait a while before trying again. If you can't remember, you will need to restore your phone. You will need to connect to the computer and iTunes in DFU mode and restore. You will lose your data, including photos. There's no other way. And you will need the Apple ID email and password to set it up.
