How can I put a code on my tv to get programs

I was able to connect HBOgo to my Ipad and IPhone but not my TV. I can see the
icon but It won't connect.

Are you referring to your TV or your television set? In either case, can you not maneuver the remote control to the channel you referenced to select it and then possibly enter the code?
