Need advice on which iPhone to buy

Hi everyone,

I received an apple watch at my company's holiday party last month. I'm thrilled, but I need to upgrade my phone to use it. Currently I have an iPhone 4. I don't use it in conjunction with a plan (for phone calls I use a quaint flipphone on a verizon plan shared with my sister and brother-in-law); I only use it when I'm at home or at work, where I can connect to WiFi.

I'm a bit of cheapskate and I favor one-time payments over recurring monthly charges. My instinct is to buy a used iPhone 5 off ebay or amazon, allowing me to sync with the watch and use it when I'm home or work. Looks like I can get one for $150 or so.

Does anyone have any advice or guidance? My general goal is to be able to use the watch at home and at work, but with minimal financial commitment.

If you can stretch it, a 5s would be better.

Yes I agree. A 5S would be loads better.
